My Stripe payment was declined

Edited

Symptoms

  • Stripe shows a red error after you submit your card.

  • You see "declined," "insufficient funds," "3DS failed," or "card not supported."

  • The order does not appear in My Orders.

Common causes

  • Insufficient funds or low balance on the card.

  • 3D Secure challenge was missed or declined.

  • Bank flagged the charge as suspicious — common with large or international amounts.

  • Card type not accepted by the chamber.

  • Address verification (AVS) mismatch.

Fix

  1. Read the on-screen reason — it's the most useful clue.

  2. If 3DS, wait for the bank's prompt and approve. Try again.

  3. For insufficient funds, switch to another card or transfer money first.

  4. For "declined by issuer," call your bank's number on the back of the card and confirm the charge isn't blocked.

  5. For AVS mismatch, double-check the billing ZIP/postal code matches the card statement.

  6. If a corporate card, confirm trychamberly.com is in the allowed merchant list.

Still stuck?

If the chamber accepts reservation, ask whether you can switch to that for this order and pay by check or wire. Otherwise, send the chamber the date and time of the failed attempt — they can ask Stripe support for the underlying decline code.
