Managing event categories

Edited

Overview

Event categories help you organize events by type — Networking, Gala, Workshop, Ribbon Cutting, and so on. Categories appear as filters on your storefront and in reports.

Before you start

  • Sketch a list of the 5 to 10 categories you actually use.

  • Avoid overly granular categories — they fragment your storefront.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Settings > Event Categories.

  2. Click Add Category, give it a name and optional color.

  3. Save.

  4. To edit, click the pencil icon next to a category.

  5. To delete, click the trash icon — events using that category will become Uncategorized.

Tips & best practices

  • Pick category colors that align with your brand palette so the storefront looks cohesive.

  • Reuse standard category names — sponsors recognize Workshop more than Skill Lab.

  • Audit categories yearly and merge or delete unused ones.

FAQ

Can one event have multiple categories?
Currently each event belongs to one category. Multi-category support is on the roadmap.

Will deleting a category remove events?
No. Events stay; they simply become Uncategorized.
