Deleting a member
Overview
Deleting a member removes their account from the chamber. The action is blocked if the member is an org_manager or has active orders, which prevents accidental loss of important records. For most cases, deactivation or role change is safer than deletion.
Before you start
Confirm the member is no longer needed.
Verify they are not an org_manager — if they are, change their role first.
Cancel or transfer any active orders attached to them.
Step-by-step
Go to Sales > Members and open the member.
Scroll to the bottom of the profile and click Delete member.
Read the warning carefully. Confirm by typing the member's email if prompted.
Click Confirm delete.
If deletion is blocked, the system explains why (org_manager status or active orders).
Resolve the blockers and try again.
Tips & best practices
Prefer demoting a member to sponsor if they may return — it preserves history.
Document the deletion reason in your internal notes before removing.
Export the member's data first if you need a record outside Chamberly.
For lapsed sponsors, consider keeping the account inactive instead of deleting.
FAQ
Can I undo a deletion?
No. Deletion is permanent. Past order records remain attached to the order, not the deleted member.
What happens to the member's businesses?
Businesses remain. The member is removed from the representative list.
