Deactivating vs deleting a coupon
Overview
You can stop a coupon two ways: deactivate it (recommended) or delete it permanently. Deactivation preserves history and analytics, while deletion removes the coupon record entirely. Pick the right option based on whether you'll need the data later.
Before you start
Decide if you may want to revive the coupon later.
Confirm whether you need the usage data for accounting or analytics.
Open Marketing > Coupons and select the coupon.
Step-by-step
To deactivate: Open the coupon and toggle Active to off. Save.
The coupon stops accepting redemptions but stays in the list.
To delete: Open the coupon and click the Delete button.
Confirm the deletion when prompted. The coupon is removed permanently.
Note: deleted coupons cannot be recovered. Past order discounts remain intact.
Tips & best practices
Default to deactivation. It's reversible and keeps analytics.
Delete only when the coupon was a typo or test that should never have existed.
Archive related campaign notes outside Chamberly so the historical context survives.
If you'll re-run a similar promo, duplicate the coupon rather than recreating from scratch.
FAQ
Will deletion remove past order discount records?

Can I bulk delete coupons?
