Expiry dates and active toggling

Edited

Overview

Every coupon should have a planned end date. Use the expiration field for time-bound campaigns, and use the active toggle to pause or resume a coupon without changing its expiration. Together they give you precise control over availability.

Before you start

  • Know your campaign window (start and end dates).

  • Decide whether you'll need to pause the coupon for any reason mid-campaign.

  • Open the coupon under Marketing > Coupons.

Step-by-step

  1. In the coupon editor, locate the Expiration date field.

  2. Set the date and time when the coupon should stop working.

  3. Save the coupon. After the expiration, redemption attempts are rejected.

  4. To pause early, toggle Active off. The coupon becomes inactive immediately.

  5. To resume, toggle Active back on.

Tips & best practices

  • Always set an expiration to prevent forgotten coupons from being abused.

  • Use the active toggle for short pauses (mid-campaign tweak, holiday freeze).

  • Use deactivation for archival rather than deletion to preserve usage analytics.

  • Communicate the end date clearly in marketing copy ("Expires April 30!").
