Min and max order thresholds
Overview
Min and max order thresholds control which carts qualify for a coupon. The minimum prevents tiny orders from receiving outsized discounts; the maximum caps the discount on very large carts. Both protect your margins.
Before you start
Calculate your average order value so the thresholds feel reasonable.
Open the coupon under Marketing > Coupons.
Step-by-step
Scroll to Restrictions in the coupon editor.
Set Minimum order amount if you want to require a baseline cart size.
Set Maximum order amount if you want to exclude very large carts.
Leave either blank to skip that limit.
Save the coupon and test it with a sample order to confirm.
Tips & best practices
Set a minimum just above your typical small order to encourage upsell.
Use a maximum on percentage coupons to cap the absolute discount value.
Communicate thresholds clearly in marketing copy ("$25 off orders over $250").
Revisit thresholds quarterly as your average order value shifts.
