Creating a coupon code
Overview
Coupons let you offer discounts to sponsors at checkout. You can build percentage off, fixed cart amounts, or fixed product amounts, and apply restrictions like usage limits, expiry dates, and event scoping. Coupons live under Marketing > Coupons.
Before you start
Decide the coupon code (auto-uppercased, max 50 characters).
Pick the discount type and amount.
Plan any restrictions: usage limits, min/max order, applicable events.
Step-by-step
Go to Marketing > Coupons and click New coupon.
Enter the coupon code (e.g., SPRING2026). It auto-uppercases as you type.
Pick the Discount type: percentage, fixed cart, or fixed product.
Enter the discount amount. For percentage, max is 100.
Add restrictions: usage limit, per-user limit, min/max order, allowed events.
Set an expiration date (optional but recommended).
Toggle Active and click Save.
Share the code with sponsors via email, broadcast, or marketing page.
Tips & best practices
Use memorable codes (SPRING25, EARLYBIRD) rather than random strings.
Always set an expiration date to limit liability and create urgency.
Default to percentage discounts unless you have a specific dollar amount in mind.
Document the coupon's purpose in your internal notes so future staff understand it.
FAQ
Can sponsors stack multiple coupons?
Only if the coupons are not marked individual_use. Stacking is rarely a good idea.
Can I edit a coupon after sending it out?
Yes, but changes apply to future redemptions only.
