Order Placed trigger

Edited

Overview

The Order Placed trigger fires the moment a sponsor checks out and the order is created, regardless of payment mode. Use it for thank-you emails, onboarding sequences, or internal staff alerts when a sponsorship is claimed.

Before you start

  • Open Marketing > Automations and click New automation.

  • Decide whether the email goes immediately or after a delay (delay_minutes is optional).

  • Have any merge tags ready, like sponsor name, event title, and order total.

Step-by-step

  1. Choose Order Placed as the trigger type.

  2. Set Delay (minutes) to 0 for an instant send, or any value up to several days for a follow-up.

  3. Add an optional condition to limit recipients, such as "only orders containing event X" or "only orders over $500."

  4. Write the subject line. Personal greetings ("Welcome aboard, {{first_name}}") perform best.

  5. Build the email body in the block editor. Include order summary, next steps, and a link to the sponsor account.

  6. Save and send a test to your own address to verify formatting.

  7. Toggle the automation to Active.

Tips & best practices

  • Send the thank-you email within a few minutes of checkout while excitement is fresh.

  • Use a second Order Placed automation with a 3-day delay to share onboarding tips.

  • Add a clear call-to-action to upload logos and contact info so you start collecting assets early.

  • Avoid sending discount offers right after purchase, which can feel tone-deaf.

FAQ

Does this fire for $0 reservation orders?
Yes. The trigger runs as soon as the order is created, even when no payment is processed.

Will it fire on cancelled orders?
No. If an order is cancelled before the delay elapses, the email is suppressed.
