Using the Button block

Edited

Overview

The Button block is your primary call-to-action in any email. It supports custom text, URL, background and text colors, hover state, and a full-width option that performs especially well on mobile.

Before you start

  • Decide on a single primary action per email. Multiple buttons compete and reduce clicks.

  • Have your destination URL ready (typically a sponsorship, dashboard, or event page).

Step-by-step

  1. Drag a Button block into the canvas.

  2. Set the Button text (e.g., “View order”).

  3. Paste the URL.

  4. Set Background color, Text color, and Hover color.

  5. Toggle Full-width on for mobile-friendly tap targets.

  6. Click Save changes.

Tips & best practices

  • Use action verbs: “Renew sponsorship,” “View invoice,” “See benefits.”

  • Keep button text under 4 words.

  • Match button color to your brand primary so the email feels cohesive with your storefront.

FAQ

Can I use merge tags inside the URL?
Yes. {account_url} and {dashboard_url} are commonly placed in button URLs.

Why does my hover state not work in Gmail?
Gmail strips many hover styles. Hover is a nice-to-have, not a primary signal — rely on color contrast instead.
