Using the Text block

Edited

Overview

The Text block is the workhorse of every email. It supports rich text formatting, font sizing, color, and alignment with merge tag insertion built right into the toolbar.

Before you start

  • Plan your copy in advance. Most email body copy should be 50–150 words.

  • Know which merge tags you’ll use (e.g., {user_first_name}).

Step-by-step

  1. Drag a Text block into the canvas.

  2. Click into the block and start typing or paste copy.

  3. Use the inline toolbar to set bold, italic, links, lists, and font size.

  4. Click the merge tag icon to insert dynamic variables.

  5. Set Color and Alignment in the right-side panel.

  6. Click Save changes on the template.

Tips & best practices

  • Keep paragraphs short — 1 to 3 sentences each. Long paragraphs are skipped on mobile.

  • Use a single font size for body (14–16px). Reserve larger sizes for one-off subheads.

  • Avoid colored body text. Save color for links and CTAs.

FAQ

Can I paste from Google Docs?
Yes, but the editor strips most styling to keep emails clean. Re-apply formatting in the toolbar.

What happens if a merge tag has no value?
It renders empty. For optional fields like {company_name}, write copy that reads naturally either way.
