Disconnecting or reconnecting Stripe
Overview
You can disconnect Stripe at any time — to switch accounts, troubleshoot a sync issue, or move to reservation-only mode. Disconnecting halts new online payments but does not affect existing orders or payouts.
Before you start
Confirm there are no in-flight payments — wait for Stripe Checkout sessions to settle before disconnecting.
If switching accounts, have the new Stripe credentials ready.
Notify your team — online checkout will be unavailable until reconnected.
Step-by-step: Disconnecting
Go to Settings > Payment.
Click Manage Stripe connection.
Click Disconnect Stripe.
Confirm in the modal — Chamberly summarizes what will change (online checkout disabled, webhooks revoked).
Click Confirm disconnect. The status flips to Stripe not connected.
Step-by-step: Reconnecting
Go to Settings > Payment.
Click Connect Stripe and follow the standard Connect onboarding.
If reconnecting the same account, choose Sign in to existing Stripe account.
Once connected, online payment is restored automatically.
What's affected
New orders cannot be paid through Stripe while disconnected.
Existing orders retain their payment records — refunds may still be issued from the Stripe dashboard directly.
Webhook subscriptions are revoked on disconnect and recreated on reconnect.
Tips & best practices
If the goal is to switch payment modes, change the mode under Settings > Payment instead of disconnecting Stripe.
If reconnecting after a long pause, audit your sponsorships' availability — anything you put in
not_yet_availablewhile disconnected won't auto-flip until the cron runs.
FAQ
Will sponsors lose access to their receipts?
No. Receipts are stored in Chamberly and remain accessible regardless of Stripe connection state.
Can I refund a disconnected Stripe order?
Yes, but you'll need to issue the refund directly in Stripe and mark the Chamberly order as refunded.
