Organizing events with categories

Edited

Overview

Event categories let you group events on your storefront and in your back-office Events list. Use them to separate event types (Galas, Mixers, Golf, Webinars) so sponsors can find what they care about and your team can filter the admin view.

Before you start

  • You need an org_manager or chamber_staff role to manage categories

  • Decide a small number of meaningful categories (3-6 is usually right)

Step-by-step (creating categories)

  1. Open Settings > Event Categories

  2. Click New category

  3. Enter a Name and optional Description

  4. Pick a Color for the badge that appears on event cards

  5. Click Save

Step-by-step (assigning a category)

  1. Open the event from Sidebar > Events

  2. Click Edit event

  3. Pick a category from the Category dropdown

  4. Click Save

Tips & best practices

  • Keep category names short — they appear as badges on event cards

  • Use category colors that contrast with your brand kit so they stay readable

  • Avoid overlapping categories — pick one purpose per event

  • Categories also appear as filter tabs on the public storefront if you have more than 3 events
